So, I am starting a series called "BIG impact, small price tag." I am going to share some of the things on my list that can make a big impact in your home, on a small budget. Hopefully you'll find a few in this list that you love too.
The first post in this series is, your bedroom!
The first thing someone sees in your bedroom? Your bed! Why not dress up your headboard with an easy upholstered headboard with nailhead trim! You can make an upholstered headboard for the less than $150(even cheaper depending on the fabric you use!). Less than $150 you say? Oh yes! Take a look at these headboards that fellow bloggers have made in only a few hours:

There are a ton of variations on how to make these. But here is what you'll need:
- Piece of 3/4 inch plywood (have the store cut it to size for you)
- 1/2 inch foam Batting
- Rubber Mallet
- Spray Adhesive
- Staple Gun & Staples
- D-Ring Picture hanging hooks

And if you want to add nailhead trim to yours, you can buy a nailhead trim kit at any craft store. It's super easy because they come in a roll and you only have to nail every fifth nail!
Window Treatment- Pelmet Boxes
What you'll need:
-Foam Core Board
-Duct Tape (Yes, you read that correctly!)
-Staples and Staple Gun
-Batting
-Fabric (1 yard for 3 pelmets)
-Wall hangers & nails
This is so crazy easy people, check it out here on Little Green Notebook. ( one of my absolute favorite blogs!)
Window Treatments - DIY drapes
This is even easier than the pelmet boxes. I made these drapes for Halle's nursery in about 30 minutes and they look fantastic (at least I think so!)
What you'll need:
-Fabric
-Stitch witchery
-Iron
-Clip-on drape rings
1. Most windows from ceiling to floor are 84 inches. I like for my drapes to gather a bit on the floor. But, whatever you prefer, measure from where your rod is to where you want the drapes to fall. Then, you'll need to add about 6 inches onto that number (you'll need about 3 inches for your hem).
2. Once you have the fabric you want you'll need to use stitch witchery or liquid seam. I used stitch witchery. I used the precut roll that is about an inch wide. You'll want to use that, and your iron to do your seams on the top, bottom and side of your piece of fabric.
3. Then, you just clip on your drape rings, hang them from your rod and voila!
